JG Summit Olefins Corporation (JGSOC) is committed to enhancing community development through various training and livelihood programs. With our Abot Kamay program, JGSOC aims to impart knowledge and enhance the skills of our host communities in Batangas City to support their livelihoods.
In partnership with the Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), JGSOC conducted a training program in November 2024 titled “Sustaining Livelihoods: Transforming Fish Byproducts into Valuable Community Assets.” This program taught participants to make bagoong (shrimp paste) and prepare dried squid. A total of 89 fisherfolk and fish vendors from Barangay Simlong, Pinamucan Proper, and Pinamucan Ibaba participated in the training.
JGSOC believes that well-designed workshops can significantly benefit our community fisherfolk by providing hands-on training in traditional and modern fish drying and preservation methods. These workshops encourage using best practices to minimize waste, promote environmentally friendly techniques, and offer insights into innovative fish by-products and their potential uses in various industries.
Through our various community programs, JGSOC aims to drive inclusive growth and build stronger, more resilient communities by addressing their most pressing needs. We believe that through collaborative efforts and dedicated support, we can create a brighter, more resilient future for all.
