JG Summit Petrochemicals Group (JGSPG) organized for the first time a two-day basic life support training to support health resilience building in its host communities in Brgys. Pinamucan Proper, Pinamucan Ibaba, and Simlong in Batangas City. The trainings were held on November 8-9 and November 22-23 in 2018.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) facilitated the training, designed to equip participants with basic rescue and safety knowledge during emergencies and disasters, including first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), proper use of automated external defibrillator, and foreign body airway obstruction.
34 out of 61 participants successfully passed the written and practical exams. Others received certificates of participation. Trainees who successfully completed the program received first aid kits from JGSPG. Three of the trainees were hired as first aiders by contractor partners of JGSPG.
Sana sa aming natutunan ngayon ay marami pang buhay ang aming madugtungan,” said Mang Vic, one of the participants from Pinamucan Proper.
