Sunnyware® products receive UL ECV label certification using JG Summit’s similarly-certified polypropylene resins

Phil-Top Industries, Inc. (Phil-Top), the manufacturer of the country’s leading plastic brand Sunnyware®, has achieved a significant milestone in its collaboration with JG Summit Olefins Corporation (JGSOC), the Philippines’ largest petrochemicals manufacturer. On July 10, the partnership led to the UL Environmental Claims Validation (ECV) certification for Sunnyware®’s food storage and houseware products, due to validation of energy savings associated with the use of a plastic additive, using JGSOC’s premium polypropylene (PP) products, which also bear the same UL ECV certification.

Sunnyware® was born from a vision to innovate and produce high-quality yet affordable houseware for everyday use. With 36 years of expertise in the industry, Sunnyware® continuously delivers innovative, affordable, and superior-quality products that enhance the lives of their valued customers. As part of its commitment to the Filipino people, Sunnyware® takes pride in its legacy of excellence and dedication to customer satisfaction and sustainability.

At the heart of this certification milestone is a key partnership with JGSOC. JGSOC produces the resins that enable its customer partners, such as Phil-Top, to produce various Sunnyware® products. JGSOC currently offers two PP resin products with the UL ECV certification in its portfolio – EVALENE PLUS® PRJ1102 and PRJ3501. These resins utilize the clarifying additive Millad® NX® 8000 made by Milliken & Company, which when used are proven to enable an average of 10% energy savings in making food containers and storage boxes. Both Phil-Top’s and JGSOC’s certifications are granted by the globally recognized safety science company, UL Solutions, who independently validates these significant sustainability benefits.

This is a significant milestone in JGSOC and Phil-Top’s sustainability strategy through technology innovation. The UL ECV certifications received by Phil-Top and JGSOC are a testament to the companies’ commitment to product innovation and sustainability.
