JG Summit Petrochemicals Group (JGSPG) held The EVALENE® Advantage: Driving the Shift towards PE and PP Injection and Blow Molded Packaging Solutions seminar on October 9, 2015 at the Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria in Ortigas, Quezon City. This first of its kind event in the rigid packaging segment brought together partners, converters and key end-users from various industries such as food and beverage, pharmaceutical, home and personal care.
The highlight of the seminar was the presentation entitled “The Opportunity/Innovation Space for EVALENE® Rigid Packaging” by Ms. Elsie David, JGSPG’s AVP for Products, Innovations and Customer Solutions. Ms. David discussed the package design process from the perspectives of the packaging professional, the manufacturing company and the end-user, and the opportunities for EVALENE® along the value chain. The benefits of doing business with JGSPG were likewise emphasized – (1) innovative application development with customers; (2) compliance to industry standard testing and regulatory requirements; (3) consistent product quality; (4) responsive customer technical service and (5) foreign exchange savings. The use of Polypropylene (PP) and Polyethylene (PE) in rigid packaging applications and recent developments in inter-material replacement were also showcased. Finally, the benefits of EVALENE® PRJ1102, PRB0202, PHJ4501, HB23551, HB33531, HJ20571, HJ04602, HJ04601, HJ08601 and PHT10171 that uniquely address the market’s need for sustainable, cost-effective and innovative packaging materials were featured.
Other stakeholders in the packaging supply chain, from equipment vendors to raw material suppliers, were invited as speakers to share their expertise on a variety of topics that covered the latest trends in inter-material replacement for rigid packaging.
Ms. Maggie Chau, Director of Weili Plastics Machinery (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd, talked about advancements in ISBM PP process and opportunities in PP bottles and containers. Mr. Vincent Wang, Asia Marketing Manager for Clarifier of Milliken Asia Pte., Ltd., shared trends in “inter-material replacement” that revolutionizes the material selection processes in different packaging applications for consumer goods, personal care, medical packaging and appliances.
Mr. Bart Schatteman, Regional Business Development Manager-Asia of Verstraete IML, discussed the motivation, advantages and new market opportunities in in-mould labelling, positioning it as the future in packaging technology. Mr. Crispian Lao, Technical Director of Re Indentor Specialist, Inc., representing SMC Corp., talked about new developments in and different applications of multi-layer blow molding bottles. Mr. Joseph dela Rosa, Product Manager of Wordtext Systems Inc., represented Stratasys Ltd., and shared the role of 3D printing in concept modelling and functional prototyping.
Mr. Miguel Angeles, VP- Commercial of the JGSPG Polymer Group, ended the seminar, and conveyed JGSPG’s commitment in conducting relevant technical trainings to create more meaningful partnerships and redefine engagement experiences with customers.
Over a hundred participants attended the half-day seminar and gained many insights on current trends and technologies that are reshaping consumer behaviour, and on the growing demand for convenience. Seminars such as this is part of JGSPG’s thrust in leading the path of innovation and providing sustainable solutions to the local packaging sector.
